InBalance studio offers an emerging mode of pedagogy focused
on generating architects equipped for creating prototypes for the architecture
of the Anthropocene, projecting a direct path from sketch to realization.
The studio integrates multidisciplinary professionals from
practice and academia, discussing climate as a condition of architecture as
well as the action of architecture in the context of climate. Materials
examined through properties, cultural context and carbon cycles form an
essential background to the main design task in the form of a design
competition which is adjudicated by a local stakeholder group and then built on
site by the student team.
